Depending on your interests, you could stay there for a few nights. Mljet lacks charming old towns, but makes up with nature. Third of the island is a NP. There are no train lines along the coast at all. All lines are between Zagreb and other places. Plus, they are not the best way to travel in Croatia. Busses are much better.

Plitvice is Croatia's top tourist attraction for a reason but it's not a big deal if you miss it on your specific itinerary which is more beach focused. It really depends if you're looking for really intense nightlife or a quiet, relaxing time. Hvar is the former and Brac is the latter. Both offer amazing nature and a rich itinerary in culture and gastronomy.
